I can’t find it on any of the mushroom sites & want to know the biological name so I know what I’m dealing with. I’ve seen a lot of mushrooms but nothing like this. It grows directly in the ground about level with the grass and has a thick root with a red-yellowish ooze with a strong odor. It’s very alien-looking.

The subject is mushroom. No, I don’t want to know how to smoke them or eat them. I just want to get rid of them. I know that mushrooms comes from having a fungus in my soil. But it’s no fun, continuously raking them out and mowing over. They keep coming back. And since the summer heat is approaching, I really want to try and control this fungus before it really gets out of hand.

So, are there any tips of keeping the soil conditioned? And can I get rid of mushrooms without damaging my lawn?

My husband has restrictive lung disease, high cholesteral, heart problems and sleep apnea. His cardiologist and primary care physicians stress that he needs a excellent heart-smart diet and exercise but he buys candy and treats to eat all the time and rarely walks or does any form of exercise other than mowing the lawn every other week. All my pleadings mean nothing. He always says, "You have to die sometime" to excuse his behavior. How do you help your spouse, partner or significant other?
